An EnergiKare™ Insulating Glass Unit reduces the amount of heat loss through windows and allows more heat (energy) from the sun in through the window - this effect is known as solar gain. As solar gain is heat from the sun, it's 'free of charge' and available all year round, thus reducing the cost of heating homes and reducing emissions into the environment.
EnergiKare™ is made up of two types of glass, Pilkington K Glass™, the UK's best selling low emissivity glass which stops heat escaping and Pilkington Optiwhite™, an 'extra clear' glass which allows more solar heat in through the windows.
Windows containing energiKare™ can achieve the EST’s Energy Saving Recommended status. Once incorporated in suitable framing material, the window will normally achieve a minimum BFRC Window Energy Rating of C and can be improved to B or A by the addition of Argon gas filling or warm edge spacer bar technology. Pilkington energiKare™ Insulating Glass Units are manufactured by approved licensed IGU processors - such as FGI - then fabricated and sold through approved registered window companies across the country.
More and more householders are recognising the benefits of EnergiKare and asking for the product by name from their local window installer.
FGI are approved manufacturers of the EnergiKare insulating glass unit and also processors / distributors of Pilkington K Glass and Optiwhite for supply to IGU manufacturers and window installers who are licenced members of the EnergiKare scheme. Contact 0161 946 8080 for more information.
NOTE TO HOUSEHOLDERS
Float Glass Industries is a long established, approved partner of Pilkington and member of the EnergiKare™ Scheme. As a manufacturer of double glazing units and glass processor, we are not able to install windows for you. You will need to locate a reputable local window company and ask them about Pilkington EnergiKare™ for your windows and they will contact us on your behalf.
